Why This Matters
Professor Wilkes founded the School of Medicine on the principle of making medicine accessible to talented students who lacked the opportunity to study it. Under his leadership (2018–2026), the school achieved remarkable outcomes: ranked No. 1 nationally for academic tutor support, and sector-leading in widening participation, state school entrants, and local recruitment.
By supporting this lecture series, Kans and Kandy Group continues to champion the values of accessibility, social responsibility, and excellence in medicine.
